FSC Paulownia
A deciduous tree that offers a light, fine grained and warp resistant wood perfect for shutters. It takes a stain easily and finishes brilliantly. It's also the fastest growing tree in the world!
Basswood
Got a huge space to fill? Basswood is reserved for the biggest projects. Stronger and lighter still with an increased resistance to warping, it's perfect for dressing huge picture windows or those new bi-folding doors.
Waterproof UPVC
Wood and water don't mix. UPVC provides a solution for rooms that get wet and steamy. Essentially though, it can be used almost anywhere. It looks just as fantastic as its wooden doppelganger too.
There are no hard and fast rules, just a few things to muse over.

CAFE STYLE
Peek at the rolling Andalusian plains above your cafe style shutters. Or maybe just the fence that still needs painting...
Privacy is no real concern here. You just have a keen eye for interior design and you like the idea of dressing your windows like they do on the continent.

FULL HEIGHT
Full height shutters utilise all the space within the recess to provide full coverage of your window. A good option for rooms that require absolute privacy.
Go for these when you want to create a dramatic effect inside and out.
When the doors and louvres are closed, they make for a pretty dark room too. Sleep tight!
TRACKED
When you want to cover a wide aperture and maintain ease of access, you need folding panels on a track system. They look just the same, function just the same but open quite differently.
Think of them like curtains on a pole. The panels can slide left, slide right or some can go one way and some go the other.
You'll find these adorning bi-folding doors and dividing large rooms.
BAY
Is there a better way to dress a bay window? Not really, no.
Apart from the being the best looking way to dress these windows, they are also the most practical. Each panel set has its own frame and functions just the same as other types of shutters. It all adds up to timeless style, ease of use and perfect shading.
